A bit more about Fairview Community Church

The church has been meeting in the area for well over a hundred years. The first meetings were held in Clontarf in the early 1900’s as a small group met together to support each other in coming into a closer relationship with Jesus. Later the church building at Fairview was erected. The group felt a need to live lives more consistent with His teachings revealed in the Bible. In contrast to many denominations of the time they valued simplicity and an informal, non-hierarchical way of ‘doing church’ ….and one without a priestly leadership. We continue to value these insights, which were the basis for the life of the early church and reflect New Testament teaching.

The Six Marks of Our Church

An Emerging Church

We view ourselves as a fellowship in a continual process of becoming and developing through prayer, commitment to scriptural instruction, and openness to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Every individual is important in our community. We recognize how varied life experiences shape spiritual journeys, and we are committed to supporting, encouraging, and sharpening one another toward Christian maturity.

We proclaim the transformative power of the Gospel message, emphasizing personal transformation through encountering God in Jesus. Recognizing our own need for grace, we seek to be a truly restorative community.

Operating within a complex world, we explore what it means to live out authentic Christian faith today, honoring the centrality of the Bible as our ultimate guide for practice.

We believe every Christian possesses spiritual gifts. We operate without a priestly hierarchy, emphasizing active member participation in worship, spiritual leadership, and local church life.

We stand in the historic tradition of the evangelical faith, honoring insights from the Reformation, the Anabaptist movement, and the early Brethren movement born in Ireland.
